I began taking private music lessons when I was four years old.  No one had to pressure me to play or practice.  In fact, before I could even climb up on the bench, I would stand and pluck the keys, trying desperately to make a melody.  I was intrigued by the piano… and I still am!  I continued taking lessons all the way through ...

Foil Pendant

Here’s a craft project for the big kids – creating shiny, embossed foil pendants with a few simple materials. Making these requires a gentle touch, but they are simple and addicting to make.

Materials:

  • craft foam sheets
  • aluminum foil
  • clear tape
  • dull pencil or medium ball point pen
  • colored Sharpies
  • hole punch
  • yarn or ribbon

Craft foam sheets and foil are easy to cut, so big kids will probably be able to do all the steps for these pendants on their own. Yay for low-maintenance craft projects!

Key Lime Cake

Thought this was fitting for St. Patricks Day!  For those of you who prefer cakes over pies, this is perfection! 

1 box lemon cake mix1 1/3 c. vegetable oil4 eggsOne 3oz. package of lime flavored gelatin mix3/4 c. orange juice
Mix all together and pour into a 13x9 pan.
Bake according to instructions on cake box.

Pot of gold Craft – Fill this leprechaun pot of gold with gold coins on popcorn.

Materials needed – 2 liter soda bottle, black tissue paper, card stock, green glitter foam sticker paper, 2 metal fasteners

Instructions:

  1.  Cut the top off of a soda bottle making a bowl shape.  (Wash the inside)
  2. Cut a strip of black tissue paper that is about two inches wider than the bowl shape you created

Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for children ages birth to 5 years old, and the adults who love them.  First offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.  Our mixed-age, inclusive classes provide a rich, active music making experience in a non-performance oriented environment.  Classes are 45 mintes in length and run for 10 week semesters.  Each family receives a beautifully illustrated songbook and two recordings of the song collection for each semester.
