Hand-me-downs are a Godsend, there is no doubt about it. But sometimes, you don’t get the luxury of having someone to provide you with their entire wardrobe until age seven with gently used clothes. I have three girls and my sister-in-law had two girls who were a few years older. It worked out beautifully. My SIL was able to unload all of her unwanted clothing, shoes, accessories, and more on our family and we welcomed it with open arms. It was an amazing blessing to us and we’ve since paid it forward to my neice.
Things don’t always work out this well, though. Not to mention, paying full retail price for something that will inevitably get spit up, boogers, bodily fluids, and other disgusting specimens on them is utterly defeating. Thankfully we have something called “second-hand stores” that give us a bit of relief from sticker shock. I’ve compiled a list of a few local shops that you can hit up for good deals:
